LastPass recently announced they are dropping their Xmarks bookmark sync extension leaving their users with an unusable browser extension as of May 1st, 2018. If you don’t know what Xmarks is, it allows you to backup and sync your bookmarks and open tabs across computers and browsers for $10 a year.
Instead of killing off Xmarks, LastPass should sell it off to another company so the app can live on. Oh well, I guess we’ll live, just not so productively.
This is how you can remove Xmarks from your Chrome browser:
- The fastest way is to go to chrome://extensions, find Xmarks and click Remove.
- Alternatively, click on the three dots on the top far right of your browser. Click on More Tools > Extensions, find the Xmarks extension then click Remove.
To remove Xmarks from Firefox:
- Click Tools > Add-Ons > Extensions. Find Xmarks Bookmark Sync and click Remove.
Now rinse and repeat on all your browsers and don’t forget to remove the app from your mobile devices.
