How To Transfer Domains to Register.com

Let’s just get this out in the open. I am not a fan of transferring or registering domains with Register.com. Their admin panel is clunky and outdated, domain pricing is unknown until you register a user name, and to be honest their service was rude both times I called in.

But let’s say you still need to transfer a domain from another domain registrant such as Godaddy or NameCheap. A Google search for it will give you nothing that is all helpful so I thought I’d share what I had to do to transfer a domain from an existing registrant to Register.com.

Step One: Purchase a domain transfer from Register.com

Step Two: Initiate the transfer from the existing domain registrant. You will be issued a transfer code.

Step Three: Call Register.com’s support number 1.866.455.1655. They will ask for the domain that needs to be transferred. They will then send an email to the existing domain owner’s email that is on file.

Step Four: Once the existing domain owner receives the email, they need to reply back to Register.com’s email with “I agree to the transfer” and include the domain transfer code. That should take care of the transfer. Now it will be in Register’s hands to finalize the transfer.

Best of luck to you. I hope you enjoy your experience at Register.com!
